Summer Computer Programs

Reading Plus (Reading)

Reflex Math (Math)

MyOn (Reading)

Reading Plus, MyOn and Reflex Math are now available from home. It is important to encourage students to complete one session of each program daily. This will support reading and math skills through online practice. The more students read, the more they will become familiar with unfamiliar words and math strategies.

Summer Reading Program

Your child has worked hard throughout the school year to develop their reading skills. In order to ensure that your child continues reading during the summer, he/she has the opportunity to engage in our summer reading program. Your child will read two books and choose one assignment to complete. There are two books for each grade level and a variety of assignments from which your child can choose.

We encourage you to take this time to read with your child and help them experience the joys of reading for pleasure.

Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, First Grade Book Selections and Assignments

Pre-K: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by B. Martin, Jr. and I Will Surprise My Friend by Mo Willems

Kindergarten: Library Lion by M. Knudson and Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus

1st Grade: Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin and Cloud With a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett



Please select one of the activities to complete with your child.

  • Make a picture timeline of all the events in the book, labeling each of the events
  • Make a poster about the book using one or two of the following media: finger paint, watercolors, crayons, chalk, real materials. Write an explanation of your poster.
  • Rewrite the story in picture book form.



Second, Third, and Fourth Grade Book Selections and Assignments

2nd Grade: Once Upon a time by Niki Daly and Stellaluna by Janell Canon

3rd Grade: Dear Mr. Henshaw by Beverly Cleary and Because of Winn Dixie by Kate Dicamillo

4th Grade: Charlie & the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl and Holes by Louis Sachar



Your child should select one of these activities to complete.

  • Pick the most important word/line/image/object/event in the chapter, then create a collage with words and pictures to explain why you chose it.
  • Write a character diary, writing at least five journal entires as if you are the main character in the story. Write down events that happen during the story and reflect on how they affected the character and why.
  • Make up another beginning and ending for the story. Include drawing/sketches to illustrate the changes.
